My name is Julie Ostapovitch, and it will be my pleasure to be your contact as we work through the preparations for this shipment. It is such a joy for us to be able to partner with you to support the work you are doing in Nigeria.

Sometimes it works best for us to include goods for two different organizations in one container. This usually happens because the volume of goods requested by two organizations will fill a 40’ container, and it is far more cost-effective to send one 40’ container than two 20’ containers. When we do this, one of the two organizations has to take on the job of importing the container for both groups. On the shipping documents, there can only be one consignee (the organization importing the container). So when the container arrives, one group makes the arrangements and imports the container. Both organizations help with the unloading, and the second organization is responsible for moving their goods to where they are to be used.

We currently have two shipments we plan to send to your part of the world and plan to combine the goods for both into one container. You have indicated that you would be willing to share a container and also willing to handle the importation process for your organization and the group sharing the container with you. Could you confirm that this is so, and you would be willing to be the importer for both organizations?

We will give you the contact details for the other group so you can work together. In this email, I will give you an outline of how we will move on from here with the preparations. Crossroads works through a nine-stage process in preparing and sending every shipment. At several of these stages, we will need input from you before we can move on to the next stage.
